Our History:

Established in 2015, Grundy Center Historical Society is led by a dedicated group of directors and volunteers who are committed to its vision and purpose.

Our Mission:

Knowing our past, connecting our future

Our Vision:

We collect, preserve and share knowledge, memories and cultural materials significant to the history and identity of Grundy Center and the community of zip code 50638. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we seek and receive contributions, gifts, grants, devises, and bequests of real or personal property from individuals or other entities.

Our Passion:
+Building strong relationships with families, businesses, organizations, schools and other public entities as committed shared guardians of their irreplaceable history and compelling personal and community stories.
+Inspiring local youths to discover their distinct heritage and to sustain a lifetime attachment to their hometown.
+ Gathering and sharing one story from every family that has ever called Grundy Center home.

Our Promise:
To be known for caring stewardship by our stakeholders, for enriching experiences by our visitors, for exceptional gratitude by our supporters; for audacious creativity by our fellow historical societies, and for an overall excellence matching the deep and productive soils in which our roots are planted.

Our Divine Inspiration:
"So I run-but not without a clear goal ahead of me." 1 Corinthians 9:26 (GWT)

The Society's long-term goals are to- Establish financial stability.-Secure a permanent location where we can continue to host exhibits.- Create a "virtual" collection of stories and information that can be accessed at the museum and via the internet.

Our Goals: We also seek to provide service and ongoing financial support of the Herbert Quick Schoolhouse, which is owned by the City of Grundy Center and situated in Orion Park.
